Delta House is a standard house that originated from a custom-designed, site specific villa. The idea for Delta House was determined by its originally intended location on a slanting site that is characterised by a wide view over the surrounding landscape. In order to get the full benefit of this quality, we already included the panorama feature in the arrival to the house. By cutting off one of the rectangular volume’s corners, we created a view past or across the building from the emerged space. Thus, the house’s pivotal interior idea of a panoramic view also determined its basic exterior expression. Furthermore, we made an additional incision in the volume in the opposite corner of the building in order to create a roofed terrace facing the garden.
The two outdoor spaces within the building’s square floor plan provide both an open, elevated area facing northeast and a roofed lowered area facing southwest. This disposition takes into account all needs for staying outside with regard to light, temperature, lee and view and supports a sculptural experience of the building’s organisation around the elevated, double height space with panorama view.
